BIG BREW DAY II--SUNDAY, MARCH 14 CELEBRATE THE BEGINNING OF DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME Sunday, March 14 is the first day of extended sunlight via the coming of Daylight Savings Time. Why not join us for an "extended" day of brewing and socializing. The last Big Brew was a big success, with five different batches brewed. Hopefully, each of these will be ready for unveiling. Meet at Ken & Diane's at 10:00 to begin the brew session. Bring your own brew gear. If you have any new prospective home-brewers, bring them along to learn. If anyone is interested in making a mead, we could arrange a mead-making explorer session. Historically, March-May is about the time that beers were brewed for keeping over the summer....before the advent of refrigeration. Beers like Maerzens and Maibocks would have been brewed. Thinking ahead towards the hot & muggy Eastern NC summer, a possibility might be light and refreshing brews. Personally, I think a French Black Lace Saison with a splash of toasted oak-aged French Merlot is in order. For non-brewers, come on over about 4:00 and enjoy the long daylight and hopefully, warmer temps. Bring a covered dish and your favorite beverage.
